I’m issuing a photo challenge for those people who want to participate! Let me tell you right now, I don’t care if you have an SLR or a point and shoot camera. It’s suppose to be fun and carefree. More importantly it’s an excuse to get out and take some pictures! Just accept the challenge and do it… do it… commit… three… two… one… DO IT! Having just tried my best sales technique, I’m anticipating it’s just going to be between me and my cousin in-law Stacy. But for those of you who are snooping around this site it’s time to delurk!

Composition is arrangement of parts in relation to each other as a whole. A great lesson in composition is forcing yourself to make a uninteresting subject interesting by framing the subjects in the shot to work well with each other.

This is mine…
Back Yard Bricks

I chose this one because the subjects are not terribly interesting and I intentionally forced myself to try and make an uninteresting picture work. I like how the leaf is framing the upper right hand and how the lines in the brick match up with the texture of the brick. Here is a hint… don’t put your subject in the middle of the picture. Use what you have around you to make an interesting shot.

Once you’ve taken your picture just email it to me and I’ll post them up here, anonymously if you would like. Or you can just email them to me and I can give you advice and my 2 cents. Email me at DEADLINE IS GOING TO BE SUNDAY! Good luck and happy clicking!

  1. I’m so excited! I’m going shooting today after work and I think I may have a good picture to email you. I just still need to figure out how to convert my edited raw images to JPEG…

  2. Stacy, can you just save them in Photoshop as a jpeg? Am I like, pointing out the obvious? You’re like, “Duh Kim, I’ve already tried that…”?

  3. lol. No. I’m just dumb…really I am. Poor Nick. I edit my photos at school since they have CS3 and I always forget that I can save my photos that way.
