The Blessing

Filed under: Uncategorized — cabenelson @ 12:17 am

A few weeks ago we had a baby blessing in our church for Wyatt. In our religion the father issues a blessing to the baby during our church services on Sunday. It’s not a set wording that you say or anything (which my nerves would have been a lot more happy about) instead it’s more along the lines of a prayer.

It was a wonderful Sunday and besides being nervous, it went great! Getting baby Wyatt prepared and in his blessing outfit was a fun occasion.

Wyatt was an absolute angel the entire day.

My wife hates this picture… It brings a small smile to my face as it shows the “real life” version of taking pictures.

Much more content…

Words can’t express how much love I have for my son. It amazes me how immediate that love was the minute I saw him. Kim and I were talking the other night how we can’t imagine our lives without him and what an amazing change in responsibility this has been.

We are incredibly blessed.

  1. OMG he’s so sweet. I love it!

  3. Cabe – These are such beautiful pictures. Thank you for capturing this special time and sharing it with us. I have tears in my eyes just remembering my love for my two sons and what you are talking about.

You know, I and my sons have always ending our conversations on the phone with “love you very much,” but neither of them could fully understand what depth I had in my heart with these words until their children came along. Now you know how your mother and father feel when they say “I love you.”

  5. Sheila- He really is just so mellow and sweet. We got lucky with this one… we may not get so lucky with the next one 🙂

Nana- How true that is! There’s nothing like walking into the house after work and just spending time holding Wyatt.

Kathleen- I can’t believe how immediate and how much love you can have for someone. It really is amazing.

Sugar! So sweet (get it?) okay that was lame. Do you have a Blog because I can’t see your url anywhere! I’d like to get to know you better!

  6. Cabe – Yes, it is amazing this immediate and strong bond and love with your child. It is the first time I experienced a “selfless love.” And this love never, ever changes. I still feel the same about my grown sons with their children too.

You know, this was what really helped me become the strong Christian I had always been lacking in. I think of God as “Daddy God (a term a friend uses),” and relate His love for me to my love for my children. This is when I realize what an amazing Father in Heaven I truly have.
